First established in 1995, the Singapore Enterprise 50 Awards — or E50, as they are alternatively known — recognise local, privately owned companies who have made significant contributions to Singapore's economic development SMC Food 21 has twice made the prestigious list, making 11th in 2013 and 41st in 2014. "We participated in the E50 Awards because I wanted to show the staff that they're doing something right," cheng says. "This award win is more of a motivational factor for my staff rather than trying to gain recognition in the business community, to be honest. Of course, it is also a form of confirmation that we have been doing something right over the years."
